First of all, a huge thank you for all those comments on the Indore dsn, and kudos to all whose sankalpa made it happen ๐
The past week was a series of Sumeru Sandhya concerts in Haryana, driving through Sonepat, Bhiwani, Rohtak and Karnal. Its wonderful to see an utterly prosperous rural belt for a change, of course with unbelievable amounts of yummy food to accompany the robust, warm Jat hospitality! Gohana is famous for its 6-inch diameter jalebis, and Bhiwani for malpudas; and everywhere, fistfuls of homemade butter lumped onto aloo parathas! Really missed my camera on this trip though – so many perfect frames are snapped into my consciousness; vast blue skies with intensely white cloud formations stretched over an endless vista of waterlogged fields ripe for sowing paddy; buffaloes lolling in herds in large, tranquil ponds; ibis, blue jays and other birds sighted quite casually ๐
Many of you may not have heard that the Haryanvis are also known for their unique brand of wry, straight-faced humour — it has a really unique flavour, quite distinct from the southie-bong-sardar variety ๐
Got back to Bbay this morning and am now driving to Lonavala for a satsang, with the sun behind me, cloud-covered mountains in the distance before me, and waterfalls pouring forth from the lush green hills on either side. Batata wadas, chikki and walnut fudge coming up in a few minutes!
