Flights of passion

May 19, 2008 by Vikram Hazra 3 Comments

Visited the Air Force base in Gwalior recently; and before my session with the officers there I was treated to a guided tour of the hangars of the legendary Squadron 7, better known as the Battle Axes! It was such a treat to meet a whole bunch of people who take such pride in their work — even the cleaners approach their job with passion and patriotism! And of course the pilots are super sharp and cool to hang out with 🙂 Here’s a pic of me in the cockpit of the incredible Mirage 2000 fighter — can’t describe to you the rush of sitting in a Rs 180 crore precision machine that can zoom at 2200 km/hr. That’s my colleague Manoj Rao looking on while I grapple with the technicalities — didn’t get to fly it though!

I am crazy about fighter jets too.
Once I saw them landing gracefully at Pune airport, my jaws dropped and I literally had goosepimples.
It would have been fun sitting in one of those flying beauties. 🙂

You cant imagine how it feels to sit in that cockpit! Its risky too — trip on the eject lever and you”ll be blasted to the roof of the hangar and scraped off the ceiling (ugh) But those officers (and their families) were so nice, loved hanging out with them 🙂

    Scary! 🙂
Yes people in armed forces are very courteous… 🙂
One thing I always feel common in Guruji’s seva warriors and battlefield warriors is, the spirit of service. Isn’t it? 🙂
